Rarely open to the public until 2001, this year the Hall can be visited by the public on just 28 afternoons - or as part of an organised group at almost any other time.

2011 Opening

Every day from 1st – 14th May and 19th June - 2nd July.

Times - 2pm - 5pm (last entry 4.30pm).

Entrance includes - access to the Inner Courtyard, Undercroft, Great Hall, Chapel, Four Poster Bedroom and Moat Walk.

Charge - £4 per adult and £3 for children / concessions

From 2006 the public will be able to see the Four Poster Bedroom. Formerly the main portion of the Solar.

Guided tours do not operate at Markenfield during the Halls 28 afternoons of opening. Visitors are welcome to arrive from 2pm and tour the Hall at their own leisure. There is an information sheet in each room which outlines the history of the room and what to look for. There is also a volunteer steward in each room – please feel free to ask as many questions of them as you wish.

 

FINDING US:

The only entrance to Markenfield is off the A61, approximately 3 miles south of Ripon in the direction of Harrogate or 600 yards north of the Garden Centre at Bishop Monkton Crossroads. PLEASE CLICK HERE TO SEE A MAP (multimap)

The entrance is between two low stone walls on the west side of the road, each wall bearing a dark green sign bearing "Markenfield Hall". The drive is one mile long.

Refreshments are not available at the Hall; however there are two cafés / restaurants within five minutes drive of Markenfield Hall going towards Harrogate; as well as numerous places in Ripon itself.
